4th - 8th Grade Travel Basketball Program

Boys & Girls

Tryouts & Player Selection

  • Players must register for tryouts on the MLBA website.

  • After two tryout sessions, independent evaluators select players for each grade level.

  • Families are notified by email if their child is selected, with instructions to confirm roster spot and pay the league fee.

Team Structure

  1. Travel teams will compete in games and tournaments across the South Hills area.

  2. One Division I team (top players at tryouts) will be selected for each grade 5–8.

  3. If enough players are available, a Division II team may also be formed at each grade level.

  4. For 4th grade, two teams may be formed with talent divided as equally as possible.  There are no cuts in 4th grade and those players not making a travel team will have the opportunity to play for the 4th Grade - White 3v3 development league.

  5. Travel coaches are selected by the Commissioner and Assistant Commissioners after tryouts.

Commitment

  • Season runs November–March.

  • Expect 2–3 practices per week plus games.

  • Travel basketball requires a high level of commitment; players with major schedule conflicts should consider other MLBA programs.

  • Uniform purchase required.
