3rd & 4th Grade Travel Basketball

The MLBA now includes 3rd graders. All 3rd and 4th graders selected through our
Tryout process, will be part of our in-house Player Development Program.

Some details about the program:

TRYOUTS /  PLAYER SELECTION:
After registering for Tryouts on the MLBA website, players attend their designated tryouts.
Evaluators select players best suited to learn and develop in the program.
All players selected to participate in the league receive email notification to
accept their place on the Team Roster and pay their required League Fee.

Parents of all selected players will be contacted by their designated
Team Coach with more details on exact schedules.

How We Maximize Your Child's Development:

FOCUS ON SKILLS:
All players will attend a weekly skills session with Coach Steve Brodzinski, a professional basketball skills coach and founder of Maximum Hoops Player Development. "Coach B" has been part of our organization for three years, working with players at all levels, mainly focusing on our youngest players to establish a head start and firm foundation of skill development.

PRACTICE:
As the season begins, players will attend a weekly practice session where they will work with a Team Coach focusing on basketball game concepts such as: Spacing, Moving Without The Ball, Proper Man-To-Man Defensive Rotations, Screening, etc.  Teaching game concepts will build on the skills that Coach B will teach throughout the season.

3-on-3 GAME PLAY:
In January and February, all players will compete in weekly 3-on-3 games, where they will get the opportunity to compete and implement the skills and concepts they develop throughout the season. The 3-on-3 format forces each player to be a more active part of the game; increasing the amount of times a player touches the ball, producing more meaningful spacing and movements, and making sure each player is directly involved in game play.

Time Commitment and Expectations:

1. The season will run from mid-November through the end of February. 3-on-3 games will not start until January.

2. From November through December, there will be a total of two (2) events per week:

a. One (1) team practice per week.
Practices could be scheduled on Monday thru Saturday and typically last for approximately 75 to 90 minutes. However, practice times could vary week-to-week;

...and...

b. One (1) skill session per week (typically lasts 90 minutes).
Skill sessions will almost always be on Sunday.

3. From January through February, 3-on-3 games will always be played on Sundays in the SOUTH GYM of Mt. Lebanon High School.  Games will last between 90 minutes to 2 hours. There will also be one (1) additional skill practice Monday thru Saturday – the times of such skill practices could vary week-to-week.

4. We will not practice or play during the Holiday break (approximately December 24th to January 1st).
